Post image for Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook (Espresso Black) Review

If you’re looking for a netbook with great specs without the high price point the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook (Espresso Black) is for you. Featuring the Intel Atom Dual-Core Processor N2600 and Windows 7 Starter this notebook has everything you need to get the job done while on the go. Its design is modern and compact yet still features a sizable 10 inch WSVGA LED-backlit Display so you won’t strain your eyes. Portability is no problem since overall size is only 1.01 inch high, 10.17 inches wide and 7.8 inches deep weighing in as less than 3 pounds. Connectivity isn’t an issue either as this netbook features 3 USB ports 3 USB 2.0 ports, VGA and HDMI ports and Network (RJ-45.) Overall this netbook is pretty impressive and has a lot to offer.

Pros

  • Ultra compact
  • Stylish design
  • Low carry weight
  • Built in web cam
  • Built in microphone
  • Good battery life
  • Comes with Windows 7
  • Good selection of ports
  • Comes with Microsoft Word and Excel

Cons

  • Limited hard drive space
  • Limited Ram
  • Limited processing speed
  • Doesn’t come with Microsoft Power Point and Outlook
  • Small screen and keyboard

Build and Design

It’s easily noticeable from first glance that the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook is first and foremost built for maximum portability, as are most netbooks. The ultra compact design makes this netbook easy to slip into your backpack, purse or even your pocket if you’re wearing cargo pants. Additionally its expresso black color scheme has a very modern look making it a real eye catcher when you’re using it. The overall shape and aesthetics of this notebook are sleek and stylish unlike many of the overly cumbersome netbook designs on the market today.

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook is also in line with the traditional netbook clam shell design making it easy to flip open and use. The compact design isn’t as easy to use as a full size laptop but this is a minor inconvenience and it is still pretty easy to use. Overall this netbook dose sacrifice a bit of comfort for increased portability but the same can be said of practically all netbooks.

Display and Speakers

As an ultra compact 10 inch netbook you would probably expect a pretty small display and you’d be right. However, the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook makes the most of its size and offers you a 10 inch built in screen. While this is a bit on the small side it doesn’t cause eye strain and the backlit LED function is easy on the eyes as well.

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook features 2 built in stereo speakers and also has a line out for headphones and external speakers if you’d like to attach them. You can also attach a headset if you’d like for voice recognition programs and such though the notebook does feature a built in microphone.

Ports and Features

When it comes to ports the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook has everything you need. The 3 USB ports are great but what’s even better are the additional 3 USB 2.0 ports. In addition to this it also features ports for VGA and HDMI as well in case you ever want to hook it up to monitor.

In addition to this the Review of Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook also has a variety of other features as well such as a built in web cam, Graphics Media Accelerator 3600, WiFi compatibility, Ethernet technology, 1 GB RAM and 320 GB hard drive.

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook also comes with Microsoft Office Starter. This software features Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel but lacks PowerPoint and Outlook.

Keyboard and Touch Pad

As you’d expect from such a small netbook, the keyboard is a bit cramped. It does get the job done however and isn’t so small that it’s hard to use. The built in touch pad is convenient and responsive allowing you to guide the cursor with ease. While these features are nice while you’re on the go you may be tempted to hook up a full size keyboard and mouse when using the Review of Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook at home.

Performance

The performance of the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook isn’t quite what you’d call high-end but it does get the job done. With 1 GB of RAM, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom 2600 processor and a 320 GB hard drive there are some limitations as to how many programs you can store and run simultaneously but the overall specs are more than enough for most on the go computing.

Battery Life

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook comes with a six cell Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 440 mAh. The battery’s run time is around 8 hours on average, plenty of time for most on the go computing tasks.

Heat and Noise

The heat venting on the Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook are fairly standard. With it’s specs it shouldn’t have a problem with overheating anyway so long as you keep it away from major heat sources.

The noise levels are also what you’d expect from a netbook; relatively quiet. Even when pushing the system to its limits the noise doesn’t become loud enough to be annoying.

This is for Who?

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1410 10.1-Inch Netbook (Espresso Black) is a great note book for both casual and professional use while on the go. Whether you just need to browse the web or preform business related tasks using Word and Excel this netbook can get the job done no problem

Should you Purchase?

If you need an ultra compact portable netbook to use while your on the go this is a great piece of equipment and can preform a variety of tasks so long as you’re not trying to run multiple high memory usage programs at once. However if you’re looking for a portable computing device that can be used interchangeably as a desktop this may not be the right one for you due to its memory limitations and relatively low processing speed. Overall this netbook is an exceptional piece of equipment as long as you don’t expect it to be something it’s not.

Post image for Acer Aspire One AOD270-1835 10.1-Inch Netbook (Burgundy Red) Review

The Acer Aspire One AOD270-1835 10.1-Inch Netbook (Burgundy Red) is a small compact computer that can fit comfortable on your work desk or on your lap. It has rounded sides and even edges to catch your eyes. It has multiple USB ports which sometimes is an issue with other netbooks. You can have you iPod or iphone plugged in along with another USB cord; maybe for a camera or printer, but then this is all you have. It has a high definition screen for a better projection when you’re looking at any fine print, who wouldn’t love that? The dell inspiration is more compact and a bargain for your money.

Pros

• Crystal Clear Imaging: The imaging on these netbooks is clear and bright and everything is easy to see, even for those who wear glasses. The high definition feature is great for gaming or watching movies.
• Free MS Office: Included when you buy it is a bundle of Microsoft software. This is good for anyone because sometimes buying and installing this system can be a pain.
• Includes win 7: Windows 7 is the program your computer will be running on. When you purchase this netbook, it comes installed in it so you’re ready to go as soon as you turn it on.
• Ready for any connection: Since the netbook has many ports to connect to, you can get started on uploading pictures of downloading music with just one click. It also can have Wi-Fi installed to pick up wireless signals so you can use your netbook when you’re on the go.

Cons

• No LED screen: Although the picture quality is clear and looks good, LED gives your computer a better resolution and image on anything you see on your screen.
• Limitation: The small hard drive makes it hard for you to get any work done at a fast rate. Whether you’re sending files or doing research, plan on it taking longer than working on your average computer.

Build and Design

The build and design of this netbook is great. It has a 14 inch screen which may look like a lot of other netbooks in the past but this one is different. This netbook has a glossy finish which allows for easy cleaning. Certain areas of the netbook may bend or move when you pick it up and put pressure in certain areas. This is quite normal. It is made this way because there are other netbooks out there that would snap under pressure. It also has a thin plastic surrounding on the screen to keep it safe from serious damage. At the bottom of this device you can find the hard drive and access port. With easy access like this it may be easier to install software in it. Sometimes it is hard to access this spot on a netbook and people don’t want that hassle, but this nifty computer is different.

Screen and Spekers

The display of these compact netbooks is not the best, but it is enough to see clearly. There are no blurry pictures or fuzziness. You click on a simple picture and it is bright and the contrast is good. There are personal settings you can change to best suite you so if you don’t like high contrast, change it to a lower setting. The speakers look rather large on these netbooks, but up close they are small. Don’t let the small speaker wholes deceive you into think it is not loud. At the highest setting for the volume, this netbook may start to sound a little fuzzy and not as clear as a radio. Keeping the sound at a medium setting is where you will hear the best sound.

Ports and Connections

The hard drives on these small netbooks have been known to run slow. Since they are a less expensive netbook, they have a small hard drive. Downloading movies, pictures, and games will really slow down all your plans. On this netbook there are three USB ports which make everything more convenient. There is a plug in for an HDMI, Ethernet cord, and memory card slots.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keys on these netbooks are very responsive. Reading over other reviews, no one had an issue. There is also a built in touch pad located below the keys in the center of the computer. There has been no known issues with this touch pad, just make sure it stays clean and free of dirt. This touch pad also has a built in mouse, but if you prefer clicking a mouse there are two mouse buttons located below the touch pad.

Performance

The performance of this netbooks is poor. It is a lower budget netbook and the quality of it is good, but performance is bad. It takes 3 times as long for something to download as most other netbooks. It also has an issue with running several programs at one time.

Heat and.. Noise?

This netbook has low external temperatures which mean it is safe to sit on your lap. Other netbooks out there heat up and get so hot they burn your leg, but not this one. It has a nice cooling system and a quiet fan so you never know when it is self cooling. The battery life of this netbook is very low. If you plan on doing hours of work, make sure you’re beside an electrical outlet. With your netbook running for 2-4 hours unplugged, this is about all the battery life you will get out of it. It has a smaller battery and a lower charge time, but then you get a shorter battery life. The older the netbooks get, the worse the battery life gets.

For who?

Acer Aspire One AOD270-1835 10.1-Inch Netbook (Burgundy Red) is very ideal for a college student. If you’re going to be writing papers and doing research and submitting work, then this computer is for you. If you’re on the go with your small business, this may also work for you because of the size and light-weight. Even though it has a small hard drive, don’t let this stop you from buying a cheaper computer.

To Sum Up

You should buy Acer Aspire One AOD270-1835 10.1-Inch Netbook (Burgundy Red) because you will defiantly get your money out of it. Just because it doesn’t have a big fancy bright screen, doesn’t mean you won’t enjoy watching movies and doing research with a lower screen resolution. As long as the picture is clear, this is the main concern. You also don’t need a booming stereo system when you can go out and buy a radio for that purpose. This netbook would be great for doing projects and small business work. Even though it has some downfalls, just remember not everything is perfect.
